Website and service terms
The terms on which you may use the VidaMed website and our coordination service.
Draft: these terms are a draft pending legal review. They may change before they are finalised.
1. About these terms
These terms apply to your use of the VidaMed website and to the services we provide. VidaMed's registered company details are to be added. By using the website or our services, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them. Specific packages may have additional written terms, which we will give you before you pay.
2. The nature of our service
VidaMed is an independent UK coordination and safety-check service for people travelling abroad for elective surgery. We arrange screening and aftercare through independent UK-registered clinicians and CQC-registered diagnostic partners. We help you consider overseas partner clinics that we have reviewed against our Partner Standards.
- Clinicians act independently and use their own professional judgement.
- Clinics are independent businesses. They are not owned or run by VidaMed.
- Your contract for surgery is with the treating clinic, not with VidaMed.
3. We are not a surgical provider
VidaMed does not perform surgery, does not own clinics and does not direct the treatment you receive abroad. The treating clinic and surgeon are responsible for the care they provide, including explaining risks and obtaining your consent to surgery. A review of a clinic is not a guarantee of its quality, safety or outcomes.
4. No emergency care
Our service is not for emergencies. In an emergency in the UK, call 999 or go to A&E. If you are abroad, contact your treating clinic and local emergency services.
We do not offer a 24-hour service. Please read your aftercare plan so you know whom to contact and when.
5. No guarantee of outcomes
All surgery carries risk. Neither we nor our clinicians can guarantee the outcome of surgery. Screening reduces some risks but cannot remove them. A summary stating that you are suitable for surgery is advice at a point in time.
6. Your responsibilities
- Give accurate and complete information about your health, medicines and previous treatment.
- Tell us promptly if anything changes before you travel.
- Follow the advice of your clinicians and treating clinic, including pre-operative and aftercare instructions.
- Attend booked appointments, or tell us in good time if you cannot.
- Seek urgent help when you need it.
- Make your own decision about whether and where to have surgery. You are responsible for that choice.
- Keep your account details and any information we send you confidential.
7. Fees and payment
Prices are given on request and confirmed before you pay. Our fees cover UK screening, coordination and aftercare. They do not include surgery, travel, accommodation or other charges made by a treating clinic. Refunds and cancellation depend on the services already provided and will be set out in the written terms for your package.
8. Information and consent
We handle your information as described in our privacy notice. We share your health information with a clinic only with your explicit consent.
9. Website use
- The website provides general information. It is not medical advice and does not replace a consultation.
- Content and design belong to VidaMed or its licensors. You may view and print pages for personal use.
- Please do not misuse the site, attempt to disrupt it or submit false or harmful content.
- Links to other websites are for convenience. We are not responsible for them.
10. Limits on our liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, in general terms:
- We are not responsible for the care provided by a treating clinic or for the acts of independent clinicians outside our services.
- We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, or for loss of income or opportunity.
- Our total liability to you for our services is limited to an amount to be set out in the final terms.
11. Complaints
If you are unhappy, please email hello@vidamed.co.uk. Our process is described on the safety page.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. The version on this page applies when you use the website. We will give notice of material changes to the terms of a package you have already bought.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, although if you are a consumer you may also have rights to bring a claim in the courts of the part of the UK where you live.
